Obama Care Facts

Posted on August 5, 2013 by admin

One of the most confusing and controversial things to affect Americans in many years is the Affordable Care Act also known as Obama Care. The Act that President Obama signed into law in 2010 has become one of the most polarizing pieces of legislature since Row vs. Wade. The biggest problem is that it is difficult to figure out what is fact and what is politics where this Act is concerned. Another problem with it is that since everyone in America has a situation that is unique to them, this law affects everyone differently.

What Obama Care Does

To begin with, Obama Care provides health care insurance to every American. This is done through what is called the Marketplace. This is a web site that will give you your options and provides subsidized health care insurance to everyone in the US. You can go to and find out if you qualify for this cheaper insurance. In addition Obama Care also provides many health care and insurance reforms. These reforms are designed to make health care better for the entire country.

The Affordable Care Act attempts to fix everything that is wrong with health care in America. This will change the way we do things in this country. With change comes some pain. Not everything intended to help people in the Act will do so. Everyone has a different situation and therefore Obama Care will affect everyone differently. The idea is that in the end we will all be better off. That means trading some of our freedoms for security.

What Obama Care doesn’t do

The biggest thing that Obama Care does is that it takes away our freedom. It takes away our freedom to decide if we even need health care insurance. What most people do not realize is that the prices of health care are kept high because of insurance. Insurance destroys competition. This means that health care costs are pumped up because the insurance companies will pay the difference. This is a problem for Americans. The other thing that Obama Care does is that it only really addresses the very low income and the elderly. Everyone in the middle, which is most of America, is left to deal with the consequences of the law.

Penalties of Obama Care

Finally, Obama Care fixes everything by charging fines to anyone refusing to get coverage. This would seem to go against everything America has stood for historically. For a person to be charged a penalty for deciding the best way to spend their money has many upset, and some have become very vocal about it. What is obvious, to date, is that while the idea of Obama Care is a good one, the application has a long way to go.
